In 1984, the cheese maker Gottfried Fischer, the
engineer Cölestin Gächter and the master mechanic
Rino Weder were discussing the problematic situation
in cheese dairies over a glass of wine. It had become
difficult to find good employees who were ready to
do the difficult work of tending the cheese. Soon they
came to the conclusion that this work should be done
by a machine. The idea for the construction of a
"cheese-tending robot" was born.
Meanwhile, more than thirty of these systems are in
operation all over Europe under the name "KAESARO".
With each new solution, the technology is refined and
improved.
The situation in the cheese dairies has not become
easier. The storehouses are becoming ever larger, and
price pressure increases with increasing competition.
Increasing efficiency is ever more important. Without
the help of automatic cheese-tending systems, a large
storehouse is no longer conceivable today.
